For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your deeds shall return on your own head. (Obadiah 15)
The Coming Judgement (15-16): The Lord states that there will come a day in which he will judge all the nations based on their actions. What they have done to other nations will be done to them, specifically to Israel. He further states that his wrath will bring pain and destruction on those who came against Israel (my holy mountain) like the agony and damage caused by a drunk. The result will be that the nations never existed.
The House of Jacob (17-18): Contrary to the judgement on the nations, the nation of Israel (the house of Jacob) will be protected from the coming wrath of God and be restored. Mount Zion, the holy mountain, the place where God will dwell is also the promised inheritance of all of Israel. The Lord makes a distinction between the restoration and protection of all the tribes of Israel and the houses of Jacob and Joseph will pour out the Lord’s vengeance on Edom.
I will lay My vengeance on Edom by the hand of My people Israel. Therefore, they will act in Edom according to My anger and according to My wrath; thus they will know My vengeance,” declares the Lord God. (Ezekiel 25:14)
