Saviors shall go up to Mount Zion to rule Mount Esau, and the kingdom shall be the Lord’s. (Obadiah 21)
Territorial Occupation (19-20): The Israelites of the Negeb will possess Mount Esau (Edom), the lands of the Philistines, Ephraim, Samaria, and Gilead (east of the Jordan River). The exiles from various dispersions will return and possess the land of the Canaanites. The text describes the return of exiles to possess Canaan and Zarephath (a city north of Sidon), not specifying from where they will come. Those exiles in Sepharad, (at least six locations have been suggested, among them western Turkey, northwestern Iran and eastern central Asia, and northern Africa) will possess the Negeb. In other words, the entire promised land will be restored to Israel; north, south, east, and west.
The Kingdom Established (21): Saviors (“those who deliverer the Kingdom” in the Interlinear version), shall rule over Mount Esau (Edom) from Mount Zion (Jerusalem). While judges may be appointed, the Lord will have absolute authority, and righteousness will prevail.
The vision of Obadiah is a massage to the world, those who come against the Jews and Israel for any reason will incur the wrath of the Lord. Ultimately, in the millennium, Israel will be restored, and the Lord will rule his kingdom from Jerusalem. The message is clear, those who stand with Israel will be blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed (Genesis 12:3 and Matthew 25:31-46)
For kingship belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations. (Psalm 22:28)
